  1. I believe it is people being fed up with not having a voice, and seeing all their country's wealth go into the pockets of oligarchs. The rise is gas prices, in a country with so much oil, was just the last straw.

  5. This is what happens when you don't have free and fair elections. I just listened to a Kazakh journalist who said the government figures for how many voted, and who they voted for, are wrong. The government said 80% voted, outside observers said it was less than 30%. The government said 60% of votes went to them, observers said it was more like 20%. That is why the Big Lie is so dangerous. If people don't believe they can exercise their right to vote, this is what happens.
