@princegroove Clearly they weren't excess machines, as when they were removed, the mail slowed down. It isn't as if those envelope sort machines were replaced with package sort machines. He purposely removed and destroyed the sort machinery required for ballot collection. This was not an effort to improve service. And he also removed collection boxes, so people have to go further to post a letter. I'm in Portland, where he trashed the US Mail, so I'm qualified to speak on these matters.

Most industry started relying on "just-in-time" procurement, counting on transport to flow in an orderly fashion. But, in a pandemic, bottlenecks develop, which impede production, which produces more bottlenecks, and the situation snowballs. Maybe, after this mess, industry will return to keeping a larger stockpile of input materials.

Of course a miniscule minority should stop obstructing what the majority needs. If that question wasn't asked, it would show a lack of integrity. We'd all be better off, if the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed. And, as Biden ran on getting bipartisan bills passed, he should be pushing the "progressives" to stop being so regressive. But, as the far left are self-centered twits, they won't budge.
