  1. I understand why Putin longs for the days, when Russia could dominate and oppress the Ukrainian people, even starving millions to death. Many former slave holders looked back on the days, when they could own other human beings, with fondness. But, slaves were less enthusiastic about being owned and controlled by others. And Ukraine also looks upon the days, of being a vassal nation, with less than pleasure.
