How far back in history are people like Sanders willing to go? Ukraine was also part of the Ottoman Empire. Should Turkey control her? Spain was under Moorish control. Should Morocco rule Spain?

Sure, Ukraine was part of the Russian Empire. It also had been part of the Ottoman Empire, and most of it, part of Poland. So which former owner has the greatest claim, or can they finally be allowed to chart their own course?

@Johnny Mill Sanders is generally wrong, too. He blamed all the illegals, crossing into the US, on Wall Street. He often said the US should be just like the USSR. He was pro-Stalin, pro-Chavez, pro-Sandanista, pro-Castro. Both Paul and Sanders make outrageous statements, that should best be ignored.

Ah, Rand Paul, what a jackass. Using the 'used to be ruled' argument, I can prove California is part of the UK. California used to be part of Mexico, Mexico was once ruled by Spain, Spain was was controlled by the Moors of Morocco, Morocco was once a French territory, France used to be ruled by England. QED California is part of the UK.

Tyrants like to restore former glory, reconquering all lands once held. Here's a big problem. Erdogan of Turkey wants to restore the Ottoman Empire, and Putin wants to restore the Russian Empire. At different times, in history, Ukraine was part of both empires. So, does either autocrat have a greater claim, or does Poland, which much of Ukraine was also part of, at one time.

Yes, it's a real pity Ukraine wasn't allowed into NATO in 2008. At that time they had a decent president Viktor Yushchenko. But, as he was poisoned with dioxin, he was severely weakened. This allowed the Russian puppet, Yanukovych, to win the next election, with help from Russia and Paul Manafort. (Anyone have any guesses who ordered Yushchenko poisoned?) Of course, NATO would not have allowed a Russian vassal state to join. And as soon as Yanukovych fled to Russia, after the Revolution of Dignity, Putin invaded.

It's actually worse, as none of those countries voluntarily were part of the USSR. It's more like, you were kidnapped and raped, by that psycho, so now you are his wife until the day you die.

@Dick Tater Sanders is a Marxist, who honeymooned in the USSR. He thought breadlines were fine, as long as the communists ruled. He still thinks Stalin was right. There never was a communist dictator he did not support. Anything, that fellow traveler says, is best ignored.

@myviews9369 Oh yes, let's not forget how Putin assisted Al Assad's genocide, in Syria. Or how for years, Russia armed terrorists.
