  1. I know a nuclear physicist, who wrote a paper, which contained a lot of his calculations, while he was working in the UK. Then he was hired by the nuclear research facility in Los Alamos. He wanted access to the paper, that he had written, so he wouldn't have to redo his calculations, but it was classified at a higher level than he, a citizen of another country, could receive. He couldn't even access a paper he alone had written, and had to call a colleague, in the UK, and have it mailed to him. (Like the mail is super secure.)

  2. So, do you think the minute a classified document is written, it is given to the archives? I would bet that the archives never knew these newly found documents existed, because they were never given them.

  3. All classified documents, like those of DARPA, CIA and FBI, or just those from the executive branch. Because, there is no way DARPA is letting NARA have their data. Heck, something I worked on, in the late 1970s, while in college, is still classified. DARPA never lets go.

  4. So, you'd have had Biden or Pence, unpack everything, check it, and repack it? These guys are busier than you or I, that's why they have staff. I'd say a better practice would be, have a box or burn bag, in the office being packed up, and any folder marked classified, gets put in it.

  5. I doubt the archives ever received these documents, to be logged in. Many different agencies create classified documents, and some don't keep track of them.

  6.  @shelleyking8450  Actually, NARA was notified, by someone who works at Maralago, that Trump had been showing, what appeared to be classified information, to guests at his little club. That is what sent them scurrying to find out what was missing. Somehow I doubt either Biden or Pence had been so dismissive of national security.

  7. That's not how it works, or could work. Do you think NARA keeps track of all classified documents? It doesn't. I receives documents, from POTUS and VPOTUS, when they leave office, and keep track of those. But, other classified documents, like those generated in the several branches of the military, DARPA, ONE, FBI, CIA, etc. etc. never go to the archives, but are retained (hopefully) in the issuing department.

  8. Pence is normal Republican horrible, but honest. He inadvertently took those documents, just like Biden. Trump, on the other hand, is a different situation.
