Prior to the Citizens United, Supreme Court decision, we had campaign contribution limits. But the conservative court found that, 1. corporations are people, with the same rights as all citizens, and 2. money is speech, therefore limiting campaign contributions stifles free speech. That's one decision that needs to be overturned, but will not until the makeup of the court changes. Another law, that most countries have, that I wish we had in the US, is a total blackout, of all political ads, for a period (days, weeks or months) prior to election day.

@AlmostCouture By land mass, most of the US is rural, but by population, most is urban. (The same is true for most countries.) Many of our problems arise from the attitude that land, not people, vote. I grew up in rural California, and most of my classmates, with any intelligence, left for big cities, when the became adults, and never returned. That brain drain, to the cities, might account for the poor decision making, of rural areas.

@martinshillitoe4735 At least you aren't stuck with a dog, for four years. I can see the downside to having so many ministers, of one party, that you need not form a coalition, to have a government. And the present Parliament, shuffling through the Tory roster demonstrates that. But, governments, that require a coalition, often fall apart too quickly. Then the people get tired of unending elections. (And yes, I too am an American, born and educated in our public school system, from grade school through grad school.)

@donaldwest8130 There are things I dislike about Warnock, but that slum lord story is BS. The church he works for, developed low income housing. Then, because they didn't want to deal with the financial aspect of it, brought in a property management company, to run it. That company, after the pandemic was over, began to insist people pay the $129/month rent, and evicted those who made no effort to pay even a fraction, of that extremely low rent. Since the deadbeats were the ones, who often caused other problems, that doesn't seem excessive. Yet, Warnock himself, had no input to the decisions to evict.

@donaldwest8130 I rally hate to be the one debunking your libel, but here goes. Warnock's ex-wife wanted to leave the state, and since they had joint custody, she could not do so. So, in order to get sole custody of their children, she created an incident, then called the police, saying Warnock had run over her foot, as he tried to away from her brand of crazy. She would not let EMTs examine her foot, and a later xray showed no damage, yet she tried to press charges anyway. The courts tossed them out, because they were clearly fabricated.
