Really? The first chapter of one of my university virology book is "The structure of Animal Viruses" and the other is "Titration of Viruses". T cells were covering my Immunology and Hematology classes, as T cells are lymphocytes in the immune system, not viruses. But then, as a microbiology major, I took those courses at the UCLA med school. The class you took was probably dumbed down, that's why it threw in extraneous information.

@jamesmason2228 Include in that group, physicians whose specialized in something other than infectious disease. I took Virology and Immunology with med students. While those of us getting a degree in microbiology had to work for grades, the med students were given the option of pass/fail. All the future surgeons treated those classes as a joke. It's amazing the number of cardiologists who are suddenly instant experts in virology.

@SEANMCAD If you start out making absurd statements, which demonstrate you've not taken a university Virology class, don't expect to be treated as knowledgeable. Next time you try to puff yourself up, realize that Virology and Immunology are different courses, and both are upper division classes, with two years of chemistry and biology as prerequisites and are never taken by freshmen.

@SEANMCAD OK big man, you pretend to know so much more than those of us with degrees in this subject: 1. what is the difference between humoral and cellular immunity, 2. what distinguishes the innate from the adaptive immune system, 3. what is somatic hypermutation, 4. what is the difference between CD-4 and CD-8 T cells, 4. why is the manner Covid-19 enters a kidney cell different from how it enters an epithelial cell, 5. why are T cell epitopes more highly conserved than B cell epitopes (hint, think of what must match between a graft donor and recipient), 6. what protein do coronaviruses use for proofreading, 7. how do the genomes of influenza viruses and coronaviruses differ, 8. why have RNA vaccines worked better than DNA vaccines, 9. why do some vaccines need an adjuvant, 10. what is the major problem in using a live attenuated virus vaccine, 11. when using a viral vectored vaccine, why is it important that the recipient be naive to the vector? If you cannot answer these question, do stop putting down the lack of knowledge in others.

@wsoxman5375 Not correct. While the humoral immunity induced by the vaccines is only partially effective against omicron, T cell epitopes are more highly conserved, so cellular immunity, due to vaccination, is still quite effective. That is why vaccinated people, infected with Covid, has such a mild course of illness. All the variants are the same size, and are propagated in droplets, so masks are equally effective against all variants. You rail against someone giving false information, yet that is exactly what you did.
