@JamesBiggar Since greenhouse gases are increasing because of human action, having fewer humans on the planet is clearly a good thing. You should give credit to countries that practice birth control. That is far more important, than other individual behavior. And your twice as much number is outdated. As China's economy grows, so does the consumption of Chinese. You want to see carbon in the atmosphere, just wait till every person in India has an air conditioner.

Your scientist attitude was true in the 70's. (Although I knew one atmospheric scientist at UCLA, who was already in panic mode in 1977.) But seeing the new droughts, wildfires, floods, etc. we are now facing, most scientists are a bit less sanguine than you portray them. Not only do they think we need to drastically slow down the amount of carbon we pump into the atmosphere now they are trying to develop methods of removing carbon.

You know what is really selfish? Having more than two children. The cause of climate change is human action. Of course, with so many people on the planet, that change is intensified. If people had listened in the 60's, and only had enough children to replace themselves, we wouldn't have the crisis on our hands that we do. Every extra person on this planet produces more carbon, eats more animals that cause more carbon, uses more things that produce carbon in manufacturing them. Sure, first world countries may produce a bit more carbon per person, but we produce a lot less people per person. Improve the status of women, so they aren't just baby factories.

Getting in people's faces, like they do, will push more people into the climate denial camp. Their actions will cause the opposite effect of what they desire. And if they are so damned inclusive, why did Hallam make such antisemitic remarks. Truly, if I had not been worried about the planet since I was a small child, these f*ckwits would make me a climate change denier.

So forget the socialism, and just do a carbon tax like Canada.

Of course we need to stop pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. But, getting up into people's facing and pissing them off will only make people more determined to destroy the planet. People don't claim that humans aren't causing the problem for logical reasons. Their response is purely emotional and devoid of reason. They then rationalize with fake pseudo-science. Look at the stupidity in the comments above for proof.
