In Oregon, we have machines to do signature comparison. Only rejected ballots are perused by human eyeballs. And, in one video, I saw Arizona has the same sort of machines. This sort of signature verification has been successfully used by banks, for checks, since at least the 1970s. The problem lies in the laws, legislated by the Republican state house, that do not allow signature verification to even begin, until the polls close. My state, Oregon, is the first in the nation to vote only by mail, and signature verification is done, as the ballots are received. If you vote early enough, you have to time to cure a rejected ballot. Tabulation does not begin until the start of election day. If the Republican Arizona legislature, would change the laws, the vote count would begin, and end, sooner.

@dr.emilschaffhausen4683 My state, of Oregon, is still counting, because any ballot mailed by election day is legitimate. We have 83% of the ballots tabulated but not all. Many other states, also accept any ballot mailed by election day, so are still counting as well. And then there are all those absentee military ballots. There are also accepted, if they have a postmark on or before election day, but most have not arrived at elections boards yet. The problem is not that it takes a while, to count every vote, but creeps who imply there is something wrong with that.

Counting every legitimate ballot is not "slow rolling" anything. Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I find it interesting, that Republican operatives messed with tabulation machinery, after 2020, and now that those fiddled-with machines aren't operating properly, Republicans are acting like it's a Democratic plot. The people endured months and months, of election ads. We can wait a few weeks, to ensure every vote is counted, to get results.

@teachervengeance Yes, there are larger counties, and most of them are still counting as well. Maybe, if gun touting jerks, had not made people feel unsafe, to drop of their ballot earlier, there wouldn't have been so many dropped off the day of elections. Typical Republican thinking, create a problem, then whine about the existence of a problem.

@capcrunch7838 That video was only about electronic voting machines, that don't use auditable paper ballots. Because hackers showed how easy it is to muck with those machines, they are no longer used.

@OldSchoolFireAlarms. My state, Oregon, only votes by mail and drop box. But, because all the signatures are verified, as the ballots come in, we used to have the results by the end of election day. But, that was when your ballot had to be received by election day. Now that they have to be postmarked by election day, we are going a bit slower, and have only counted 83% of the vote.
