And it wasn't just the US that recognized Guaido, but most civilized countries. And what do you mean "Netanyahu was supposed to step down"? Rivlin gave the mandate to form a new coalition to him, because more seats proposed him for PM. That is the way a parliamentary government works when no one party has a clear majority.
