If any of us drug a sick child on a long journey, and they died of dehydration, we would be charged with child abuse. We would be charged regardless of our rationale, even if we were doing it to start a new job. Moving to the US doesn't get you away from gang violence. Money was this father's motivating factor, and he knew a small child would make acceptance into the US more likely.
