The US already recognizes Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova as independent countries. That didn't stop Putin from stealing bits of them. The US should recognize Chechnya and Siberia as independent states.

@hmxr715 Ukraine has natural gas fields. It amusing that you call someone else ignorant.

@WatcherSCP Illegal coup? Are you talking about when the Ukrainian people protested, in Maidan, when Putin's puppet broke his word, and signed trade agreements with Russia, not the EU? Then, because that oligarch fled to his master, Putin invaded Ukraine, and held a corrupt referendum, where you could only vote if you were a Russian. It was the invasion, and false referendum that were the illegal coup.
2
@WatcherSCP Really? Didn't the Ukrainian parliament vote to remove Yanukovych in 2014, after he fled, with his money, to Russia? I seem to remember they had new elections three months later.
2
@WatcherSCP The Ukrainian economy sucks because Russian oligarchs stole so much of its wealth, Russia keeps attacking the Ukrainian infrastructure, and Ukraine has to spend so much money on defending itself from Russian aggression. If Russia would return the money their oligarch stole, and stopped with all the aggressive tactics, Ukraine would thrive.

Last time I looked, Macron was the head of France, not the US. When has France ever met a dictator they didn't want to appease?

@alanbailey5621 No, you assert a treaty exists, when none does. It is up to you to prove yourself correct, not for us to look for something that doesn't exist.

Russia already broke the Minsk agreement, when he invaded and took parts of Georgia and Ukraine. His word is not to be trusted.

@jamesjackovich5886 Of course, this is payback for Putin putting down Belarussians, when they protested for free and fair elections. Maybe, if Putin hadn't sent troops, the protests in Belarus would have had the same effect as Maidan did.

@gregs4422 It's tempting, but NATO is an alliance, no one country sets the agenda, even if the US pays the lion's share (~90%). If the US and UK could convince the other countries, to let Ukraine into the alliance, we'd be there, protecting them from further Russian incursions. It isn't just gas, oil and rare earth mineral that Putin wants. He took Crimea to have a warm water port.

@Ravenzpeak Yep, Yanukovych is also the dude who employed Paul Manafort, to win the election in Ukraine. He did so by lying to the Ukrainian people, saying he'd bring Ukraine into the EU. Then, instead of signing trade agreements with the EU, he signed them with Russia. The people had to protest in Maidan, many losing their lives, to finally get Yanukovych out. He fled to Russia.
1
@lordhighexecutioner Really? Then why, when the people of Belarus protested for free and fair elections, did Lukashenko call on Putin, for Russian troops. Belarus is a Russian vassal state.
1
@AORD72 What makes you think any of these Russian trolls live in the US?
1
@WatcherSCP "Putschists"? That is how you characterize the peaceful demonstration, by the populace, against Yanukovych going against what he was elected to do? Despite being non-violent the Berkut, reinforced with felons released from prison, murdered 130 innocent people.

@rickrose5377 True, Ukraine has a disgusting history of antisemitism. But, considering the fact they elected a Jewish president and prime minister, that racist tendency seems over.
1
@Korovkin_Pavel Abkhasia was part of Georgia, invaded then illegally annexed by Russia.
1
Macron is just trying to make France seem more relevant, after being kicked out of Mali.
1
During Maidan, even children fought to get the Russian backed oligarch off their necks.

@neva6136 Russia and Syria, Russia and Afghanistan, Russia and Moldova, Russia and Georgia, Russia and Ukraine, Russia and Chechnya. Two can play this game.
1
@neva6136 Military and economic agreements made by a Russian backed oligarch, after he promised to make those agreements with the EU.
