@GladysAlicea We need not throw out what is good, to repair what is bad. We were the first democratic republic in the world. Other countries either modeled themselves on us, or altered their monarchies into constitutional monarchies. The US Senate, like the Australian and Canadian Senates, were modeled on the British House of Lords. But, the UK, Canada and Australia have all gradually removed power from their non-democratically chosen house, so all they have is advisory power. They can slow down the passage of a law, but not prevent it. If we also reduce our Senate's power, in the same way, and shift their confirmation power to the House of Representatives, we will have a far more democratic country.

And when Trump is convicted, not merely indicted, on insurrection charges, he will still not be barred from office, because the office of president is not considered a "triggering office". Read the 14th amendment again, there is fine print about which offices a person must have held, at some time, to be excluded. And president is not one of them. This is the disadvantage of electing a president who has never before been an office holder. There is an excellent article, on Lawfare, about this. I suggest you read it. BTW Even if he had held a triggering office, Congress can override the ban.

If Comey had not broken DOJ protocol, and wrongly discussed an investigation into Hillary Clinton, then discussed reopening the case, the again closing the case, she would probably be president. The fact he did so, without mentioning a more serious investigation into Trump, biased the country. It is a good thing that DOJ has learned the error of such a discussion, prior to indictment. From the indictments already made, and the people whose homes have been searched, it is clear that DOJ is working its way up the chain of criminal conspiracy. This is how the convict mob bosses. This is how they will convict Trump, who always behaved like a mob boss.
