@JoshFisher567 I've been a paid programmer since 1981. Even in the bad old days, you always made backups, and backups of backups. Sure, sometimes it took a day or two, to get files out of archives, but all data was always backed up, sometimes in triplicate, just in case.

@Bill Randleman There are secure SMS apps. And not being secured just means they aren't encrypted, not that they aren't stored in multiple locations.

With today's distributed cloud storage, this data had to exist in several locations. To purge them all would take a concerted effort, not some piddling error.
