  1. Don't know about the new part of the bible. But, I know that Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. I found this out working a WW meeting, and the first person came in with shmutz on their forehead, so I started to reach into my purse for a tissue, and three more people came in with the same schmutz. Fortunately my coworker knew what it was about even though she was Wiccan. When I see those ash crosses on people, I know I have a little more than 5 weeks to get ready for Pesach.

  2. Don't be an ass. Cancer is caused by mutations. Radiation can cause mutations resulting from cancer. But, most people aren't exposed. The mutations arise spontaneously.

  3. The Jewish day of fasting and repentance is Yom Kippur. We do not wear ashes, but white clothing, and no leather. To mourn, we tear our clothing and do not shave or cut our hair. I don't know where the ash thing comes from, but it isn't a Jewish custom at all.

  5. A lot more people get breast cancer than pancreatic cancer. I don't know why you thing pancreatic cancer is so common, it isn't. The most common cancers are non-melanoma skin, breast, lung, prostate, colon, melanoma, in that order. Pancreatic cancer is number eleven. More money goes into research for prostate cancer than breast cancer, even fewer people get it. The survival rate for breast cancer is not 100%. Stage 2 is 85%, but stage 4 breast cancer is only 22%. Stage 4 lung cancer has better survival rates.
