  1. There is a European toilet system that automatically washes the entire stall after a set amount of time. Our Portland city council considered putting them in downtown for the homeless to use, but were prevented because the basic model could not handle wheelchairs. When the council offered to spring for a quarter to be accessible, the Americans with Disabilities deemed it insufficient and the idea was canned. I guess the French don't have that particular problem.
