@kathyweis7023 The mRNA platform has been in development for over 15 years. Vaccines, using mRNA, for SARS and MERS already existed. All that was needed to produce these vaccines, was the genetic sequence of the target antigen, which we've had since January. What took ten months was safety and efficacy testing. Complaining that this vaccine only took ten months, is like complaining a copier produces a document too quickly. The hard part, the development of the science, has been in the works since the 1960s.

@Wolfnotsheep1 If you understood anything about cell growth, viral replication, immunology, basic biochemistry, you'd not make this asinine statement. The whole virus is not contained in these vaccines, only a portion of a single protein. There is not logical reason to assume this could possible affect the neurological system or insert itself into any cell, let alone its DNA. And this isn't a retrovirus, even if there were. There is not enough of the viral RNA to replicate, just the code for a small portion of one of the spike proteins. There is no viral polymerase at all. It simply cannot replicate. G_d, I hate ignorant people who throw out buzz words they don't comprehend.

@Wolfnotsheep1 That's simple, the virus is either detected through RT-PCR (reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction) or through antigen to the virus. The first finds even the smallest viral load, but takes time. The second is quick (like a home pregnancy test) but cannot detect low levels of the virus.

Ficki Fiona It's not that simple. There are some people who do not have fully functioning immune systems, like those with a genetic deficiency, or undergoing chemotherapy, or taking anti-graft rejection drugs. The vaccine cannot work for them. The only way they are protected is through herd immunity. By every member of the population, who is healthy enough to take the vaccine, doing so, we achieve herd immunity.

@dontgetvaxxed9505 It cannot insert itself into ones DNA. There is no way that can occur.

@midnightnwk7596 Some countries, not the USA, have been suggesting their people be given a vaccination passport after their immunization is complete. And are talking about, requiring showing that passport to enter a theater, museum, sporting event, restaurant or shopping mall. It is all in the discussion stage, and not in this country. But, of course, idiots are already screaming about losing their rights.
