But, as the Industrial Revolution kicked into gear, and burning coal put soot and carbon into the atmosphere, the Thames stopped freezing over. The last Frost Fair was held in 1814. "Temperatures were below freezing every night from 27 December 1813 to 7 February 1814." When was the last time London was that cold?
