  2. I stopped getting cable TV around 2005, mainly because I couldn't get a package without sports, which I never watch. I know other people who felt the same.

  3. Coming into the office means wasting time in stupid meetings that accomplish nothing, except allow middle management to claim salaries when they don't do any work. You can write more code, run more scientific experiments, design more hardware, test more, and basically be a lot more productive, without wasting time on meetings. As for metrics, when I took a project management class in grad school, the only conclusion I came to is metrics are another waste of time, utterly useless, and really can't predict anything. The idea of metrics was invented by people who can't do anything useful, as an excuse to harass productive types.
