@heathertaylor8904 Good for you. I had a similar experience. It's not easy to be a good, loving parent, when all you experienced was abuse. But, you can.

@howecreative Having raised two children to adulthood, it's not as simple as you describe. After a kid goes through puberty, peer pressure is stronger than any parental deterrent. You have to lay in a moral base before a child reaches twelve. It's much easier to be a permissive parent, even though that is detrimental to the development of a moral human. If both parents work, the raising of children, and instilling of a moral code, is left to nannies and teachers. Many parents don't realize their child doesn't have a firm moral and emotional grounding, until it is too late. And then there are the parents that don't even try.

@Dr.LongMonkey That is only true if the child is home schooled, and has no friends.

@derrickholsey7407 It's far less any particular party, and much more bureaucracies. When teachers and principles regard children as a means to a sinecure, rather than wards to be educated, schools are just penal institutions.
