  2. We (the USA) have become so polarized, that if the other side does something good, we refuse to recognize it. I strongly dislike Trump and many of the the things he has done (deregulating banks and polluters, absurd tax cuts, etc.) but believe he is doing the right thing here. As for seeking Congressional approval, Obama did that and was refused. Which is why he let the Russians handle the chemical weapons problem. I doubt that Trump would have had better results, and you and France would have had to go it alone.
