Yes, when dealing with a pregnancy, but not vaccination against an infectious disease, the decision should be made by the individual. Unless you are a hermit, who never comes in contact with others, get vaccinated.

Abortion does not kill a baby, as a baby is a neonate. So, you don't like abortion, then don't have one. Don't force other women to suffer because of you misconceptions. As to preventing pregnancy, contraceptives can fail, and BCP have severe side effects. Whether or not a woman continues a pregnancy is nobody's business but hers. I'm fortunate, to have never needed an abortion, but not so selfish and smug, to think others might not need one. I'm not so self centered and self righteous to think every female is as lucky as I've been.

@jtm0071 I have, a D&C. It's a lot less bloody and traumatic than giving birth, and a lot less risky as well. Every man, that says a woman shouldn't have an abortion, should be forced to carry a parasitic worm for 9 months, then forced to shit out a bowling ball.

The reason that abortion was made illegal, in the first place, was to put midwives out of business. As the outcome of having a baby delivered by midwife was usually better than being delivered by a doctor, in the days before germ theory and antiseptics, most women used midwives. But, more than half of a midwife's business was not delivering, but terminating a pregnancy. So doctors (male) decided to cut the midwives (women) out of their business, and lobbied law makers to make abortion illegal. One of my great grandmothers was a midwife from East Prussia. She continued her practice after emigrating to the US, and even after abortion was made illegal. I'm proud to come from a long line of abortionists.

My reproduction days are behind me as well. But, I have two adult daughters, and two lovely little grandsons. Watching they ordeal pregnancy was for my older daughter has reinforced my belief that women need the right to terminate unwanted pregnancies. I hated the sickness and pain of pregnancy, but mine were easy compared to my daughter's. She and her husband really wanted children, and they are wonderful parents. But, if her pregnancies had not occurred when they were financially and emotionally stable, it would have been a crime to force her to endure the gestational diabetes she did. I have never had to consider an abortion, nor have either of my daughters. But, I'm not so self centered to think every woman is as lucky, as we have been. I would never condone forced abortion, as I would never condone forced pregnancy. Every person should have the right to control their own body. Abortion must remain safe and legal, in order to have a just world. BTW My younger daughter is a Tay Sachs carrier, and it would be a sin, to force her to continue a pregnancy, if one ever happened, if her fetus had the trait.

@ronny5366 I've seen abortions (D&C) and I've seen (and experienced) birth. Abortion is a lot less bloody and traumatic than birth, and far less risky. If you've never endured the pain, disability and risk of pregnancy and birth, you really should keep your big yap shut.

A cancerous tumor also has a unique genetic makeup. That is what allows it to grow without regulation. And what you call a heart and nervous system are really just a mass of cells that have not fully differentiated until the end of the pregnancy. If we use your false definition of what a person is, then it treatment for cancer would be made illegal.

@ascendednightingale2456 When most abortions are performed, there is no blood, or digestive tract, or brain, or heart. You really should take a class in developmental biology, as you don't understand ontogeny at all. The host should have the right to remove a parasite.
