  1. Good. Even back in the 1980s, working as programmers, my husband and I felt we needed to unionize. Programmers are paid better now, but sometimes a high salary makes one more vulnerable. Companies are always worried about the next quarter, and will move all the highest paid programmers to one division, then axe that division. It screws up product development, two years down the line, but US companies are very short sighted.
