A lot of the Vietnam era antiwar protesters were young men, of draft age, especially the ones with low numbers, from the draft lottery. Antiwar and fear of the draft go hand in hand.

@rockhard9369 Is that what the books say? Because mostly guys, who could afford to, went to college. Most of the protesters were already getting a student deferment, and were not at risk of the draft. And many more young men fled, than protested. Those who could not afford college, or weren't smart enough to get in, went to Canada and South America, and only returned after the war was over. One guy told me of living on the streets in Chile, raiding the trash cans of restaurants for food.

A lot of them were against the war, but did a risk/benefit analysis of protesting, and stayed silent. Those supporting the war are mostly older Russians, who don't get their news online, and have a clue how to use a VPN. Younger Russians have been trickling out of the country since the beginning of the war, Turkey and Israel are full of newly arrived Russians. This mass conscription just turned the trickle to a flood.
