@sweetfacelola5540 Ukraine is formerly corrupt. The very fact Zelensky's party has been reforming the government, to remove corruption, is what has Putin so worried. It would set a dangerous example to the Russian people to have a genuine democracy, not run by corrupt oligarchs, next door.

@Notfromwashington Ukraine asked to join NATO, about a decade ago. They were told they would have to first reform their country. They have been cleaning out the corruption, and were almost to the target NATO set. Why do you think Putin invaded again?

@bryanb3352 Because, without rules to constrain ourselves, we become as evil as those we abhor.
2
@Jeff-zc6rr Sure, ignore the fact Zelensky has a law degree, and ran a successful business, before he ran for president as a reformer.

Putin is holding the world hostage, with the threat of nuclear war. While it is true, no sane person would intentionally start WWIII, everyone is saying how insane he has been acting. I'm not sure if he really has lost his mind, or has calculatingly assumed the affect of a madman, just to frighten world leaders.

@2d_enjoyer Ah yes, the isolationist rant, "We owe the world nothing, Europe's problems are not ours, we should stay out of it." Such refrains were common prior to both world wars. It would be so nice, if the US could just hole up in our cave, and wish the rest of the world away. Every time we've reverted to isolationism, the world has almost destroyed itself. Nobody appointed us the world's police, but sadly we are.

@lordimperatus5031 You cannot compare a strictly defensive alliance, with a terrorist group bent on forcing its religion on everyone else. A much better comparison would be if Canada decided it was going to launch a new set of Crusades. And we would handle it, the same way Canada handled us, when we had a mad president, with diplomacy. We would not invade them, and use the tactics of terrorists, intentionally targeting civilians.

Logic isn't your strong suit. Do you leave your keys in your car, to prevent it being stolen?

@SeanWinters They were caught. Don't you read history books?
1
@SeanWinters True, more than 150 years ago, the US behaved badly too. That does not excuse Russia breaking the agreement they signed, to respect and protect Ukraine's borders, in the 1990s.
