  1. The version we are forced to use is banned. In China, there is a different version, that puts very strict time limits on when , and how long, minors can use it, and what content they can see. The version for adults is more for online sales.

I still remember how pissed they were, when they realized I'd placed restrictions on what domains our LAN could access. They both yelled at me, that other parents don't do that, to which my ex replied, "Other mothers can't write code, and don't understand Linux. If they could, they would." My point is, it is nearly impossible to control what your children access, once they are post pubescent.

  9. Look at the numbers, the problem is real. And banning TikTok is a good start, but certainly does not address all the problems. Zakaria is wrong, this law should pass and we should pass data privacy law, like they have in the UK. We should not trust China. They place draconian limits on US companies, to do business there. We should place similar limits on them. As to CCTV and Al Jezeera, the fact they can broadcast here is wrong. Like RTV, they are nothing but propaganda, and disinformation, and should also be banned. A law that prevents all hostile foreign powers, spreading misinformation here, would be a good one.

  14. Why does the Chinese version of TikTok severely limit its use by minors, and what content they can see, but the US version doesn't have such stringent limits? China knew the version they released here, is bad for children and teens. Their motives are nefarious. Banning Tiktok is a very good idea. And then all social media needs to be restrained. We need laws protecting our data, like the EU has.
