  1. A lot of people didn't want to leave their pets to drown. "Local and state health and safety regulations do not permit the Red Cross to allow pets in disaster shelters." Most motels don't take pets either,. So, even if they could afford a motel, where would their dogs and cats stay? Show a little compassion for people who love their animals, and stop calling them stupid.

  2. How about another lesson, this one for the emergency shelters. Provide shelter for pets as well. And advertise that fact. Maybe more people will evacuate if they know that their animals won't die.
