  2. When banks default, so do all the businesses that owe them money. When a deadbeat, with a BS degree, in a totally useless field, defaults on their loan, there are no negative repercussions, for anyone else. Why should hardworking people, who knew they could not afford college, or were good enough students to get scholarships, have to pay for your five to six year vacation? Pay your own damned way!

  3. The government should stop guaranteeing loans for worthless degrees or for any private college. Only STEM degrees, at public colleges, should be eligible. The main factor, driving up tuition, is the fact loans are available. Stop giving loans, the cost will have to drop.

  4. How is getting a useless degree, from an overly expensive private school, fighting any war, or doing on damned thing for the economy? Other people, who actually do help the economy, aren't getting their home loans or car loans forgiven. Why should someone who does nothing, and has a BS degree in children's literature get $10K, that would be better spent helping more deserving people.

  5. No, state colleges aren't that inexpensive. Both my daughters got two degrees each, at state university recently. The people begging for the bailout are the ones that were so lazy and stupid, that they didn't qualify for scholarships, and got useless degrees, in mickey mouse majors, at super expensive private colleges.

  6. UPS pays for tuition and books, even for part-time workers. If these entitle brats were willing to work a little, they wouldn't have needed to go into debt.

  10. Come on now. Don't expect critical thinking from those incapable of it. My older daughter and I tried to explain this to my younger girl, in 2016, but she listened to her douchey friends instead. When she started bitching about losing Roe v. Wade, a couple of weeks ago, my older daughter snapped at her, "Oh, but you had to be a bernie brat!"

  11. In every country, where higher education is either free or cheap, admission standards are much higher. There is no Greek system. Most students live with their parents, or in extremely austere dorms. College is a time of diligent studying, not drunken partying, because if you goof off, you're out. Face it, none of the entitled brats, whining they can't pay the debt they took on, would never be admitted under those conditions.

Only in the US, where students are regarded as customers, do unqualified, terrible students get to go to college. All of these people, whining about the high cost of college, were such pathetic students, they couldn't get a scholarship. They would never be allowed in, if college were free.

  17.  @adam6072  So lucky, that when we first wanted to buy homes, the interest rate was 20%. Boomers had to work a lot harder, than the current generation is willing to.
