  1. Google the population of Puerto Rico. There are about 3.3 million. If one in a thousand people died, that would give 3.3 thousand. Three thousand deaths is a reasonable number. Many of those who died were elderly (who comprise 14.5% of their population) or diabetic (15.7% of the population), had other chronic diseases or became ill due to contaminated water. Once again, it is a very reasonable number; and it is based on statistical data of the excess of certified deaths compared to previous years, not conjecture.
