  3. They may not have a "variant specific test", but when there is S protein dropout in the PCR, they do a genomic sequencing. So, they do know which variants are in the population.

  4.  @brasstacks1696  The WHO knows, from past experience, what parts of the world give rise to new influenza antigenic variants. They survey those regions, and use the data to determine which four antigenic strains will dominate the year. This surveillance system has worked well since 1952.

  5. I'd rather be vaccinated, then hospitalized with an IV drip to administer mAbs. You do realize, that unless mAbs are administered early in an infection, they are useless, don't you?
