No, the big story is not the miniscule number of people with protected status, it is all the people, in Europe, North America, and the middle east, who book flights, and get stranded due to a lack of pilots. The big story is, the airlines took in billions and billions of euros, dollars, pounds, riyals and shekels, from their respective governments, to see them over the pandemic, and they still let most of their employees go. Now that air travel has resumed, they don't have enough pilots, flight attendants, or crew on the ground, for the airlines to run efficiently. What happened to all the money, that was supposed to prevent this?

The shortages are real, and due to coercing many pilots, and others, to take early retirement in 2020. Now that vaccine, masking, and testing mandates are gone, many people want to fly again. And there aren't enough pilots, or other staff to handle the demand. What I'd like to know is, where did all the dollars, euros, pounds, riyals and shekels, given to airlines to prevent firing of needed personnel, go? Just because you know two people, who want to be flight attendants, means nothing if airlines don't have enough pilots. Without a pilot, an airliner is just a crowded restaurant. Tell your friends to learn to fly.
