My daughter works for Intel, and gets half a year paid maternity leave, then a year where she can mostly work from home. Manchin's correct, this can be done in a more permanent way, by cooperating with employers. Shoving every possible wish list item, into a transitory, inflationary bill, is not the way to go. Each item should be addressed separately, so the people know what they are getting. Not only is that more fair and lasting, but those items, that don't pass, can serve as platforms to run on, in the midterms. Why can't people listen to what he's saying? The elections Tuesday should have been a wakeup call. He understands the psyche of the American people better than any in the "progressive" wing. But, they'll just sneer and say he's bought, and never realized how deluded they are, until the Republicans regain control of Congress. Then it will be too late. Will my party learn then? I doubt it, they just claim their loss was due to racism, not their own stupid policies. Keep pissing the voting public off, by acting like you know better, and passing bills that drive inflation, then Trump will win in 2024. As the country loses its democracy, the "progressives" will never admit that they were the cause.
