  1. People were voting in this country before television or radio existed. Clearly, it is possible to be elected without big ads. If the amount of air time any candidate could use were limited by law, less money could be spend on such ads. If social media were also treated the same as other media, there would be less disinformation. If the amount of money any candidate could spend was severely limited, money would be less important. If the amount of money any one person or institution could donate to campaigns was greatly restricted, no person or corporation would be able to buy candidates. Yes, now that candidates spend a lot of money, their opponents must also spend. But if all candidates' spending was curtailed, the playing field would be more level and money would have less power to influence everything.
