Remember, Herzog comes from a Labour background, so doesn't mind that the far left courts rule, not the democratically elected government. In the US, judges and justices are either elected by the people, or appointed by those the people elect. In Israel, a committee of former judges appoint judges and justices. In the US, the Supreme Court can only overturn legislation if it is unconstitutional. In Israel, the courts only need to feel they are "unreasonable", a highly subjective measure. In the US, the president appoints the AG, who serves at his pleasure. In Israel, the same judicial committee appoints the AG, and the PM has no say in who it is. In Israel, this committee also appoints judicial "advisors", who have the final say in everything the government does. In Israel, there are no juries, and there is a 98% conviction rate, as judges and prosecutors collude. All the Israeli public wants, and voted for, was a justice system just a little bit more like ours, or at least like Canada's.
