This is absurd. If snapchat wants to ban the use of the "f" word, or a finger gesture, that is their business. But, as this happened off school grounds, the school should have no say what so ever. It is quite possible this young woman has a legitimate complaint, that there is a double standard. She should be allowed the relatively safe outlet, that social media provides, to voice that complaint. If young people's right to state a grievance is removed from them, that causes pent up frustration, which can result in self harm, or harm to others. The school's energy would be better spent stopping bullying, and unequal treatment of less popular students.

Can you provide a SCOTUS case that has already decided the matter of free speech on social media for minors? I searched, and could not find one.

@videoettaceo8900 Really? And if she was right, and the cheerleading squad chose its members based upon friendship, not talent, what then? Where are the consequences for such blatant cronyism? The victim gets punished for complaining, and the perpetrators are allowed to continue without repercussions? Why do the mean girls get off scot-free?

Did you not hear the bit where other 9th graders were chosen, but only those with connections? If there were a strict rule, like it sounds many of your schools had, fine. But, there were exceptions made for others, just not her.
