@JohnOhkumaThiel University was still rigorous in the 1970s, at least in the sciences at UCLA. As for it being only for the rich, UC universities were inexpensive, and very selective, only the brightest got in. Things have changed. You don't need to be a stellar student to get into college. I looked at my daughters' college text books last decade. They were more like high school books. And dorms are much more posh. The ignoramus, who called you an idiot, would never have survived college in our day. We weren't pampered, like today's college students. We certainly didn't have emotional therapy animals, to get us through finals; and we didn't feel someone expressing a viewpoint different than ours was a micro-aggression.
