How hard is it to hire someone to come into your home and help you care for someone? You will be there also. Find someone you can trust who maybe you can even pay with a free room and board. They can help with laundry, cooking, dressing, bathing, walks or whatever needs done. These institutions are for profit not for care. It is in the name of care, but they don't care. You are a body and a paycheck to them.
If you get a 22 million award, the lawyer takes half, taxes take half of that, and you are left with like 6 million split three ways which is like 2 million each. That is a lot of money, but they loved their mom and wanted to do the right thing. Maybe these CEOs should face jail and not just not lawsuits. If you engage in elder abuse, which they do through neglect, that is a crime.
This profession attracts sociopaths who love to hurt people and get away with it. It is an easy place to do that. Just cover up the wound and watch them suffer. If you visit these places, they are among the most miserable on earth. Elderly in other countries, if they are just sitting in the hut with the rest of the family until they die, at least they have that much of a life. These places are a living morgue.
