Like people who want to eliminate food stamps and aid to the poor. There are people, often poor themselves who shun those who take aid to survive and abuse them for it. It takes a special kind of evil heart to do that, to have no mercy.

It just shows that evil comes in all forms to all people. Just because people weren't black in the south during slavery doesn't mean they had a good life at all. You can't really compare the two except they were both kind of in hopeless situations.

There was nothing to forgive. She was abused by everyone in the name of looking out for themselves.

There was a lot of irony to it. I wasn't laugh out loud slapstick style humor.

People are like that now though. Look at how people treat the homelss and poor, the elderly in nursing homes, the mental patients, etc. This is a good story the way that lady told it. I believe it all. Social peer pressure is powerful. It is often stronger than people's own characters and hearts. Emmeline is probably a saint in that she still loved and welcomed anyone who showed her the slightest kindness. That is probably why they really shunned her because I am sure those people weren't all without any sexual misconduct. This woman was essentially raped, then screwed again when they took her kid. A society that does that is full of perversion with the perverts trying to hide it by making someone else the scapegoat. There was no need to shun her, she wasn't dangerous to anyone except by passively shining the light of genuine goodness on their evil lives.

There was nothing to judge about her and they knew it. They were hiding from judging themselves.

@christopherneil988 It is a good story. You can write it and get an editor to help you fix it up. I don't think there are peopel who do what you do around too much any more. If you go around someone who is shunned, they think you are crazy and worse than the outcasts. It takes courage to do that. Maybe God put you next to each other so you could shine your love to each other.

Maybe her concience was struck at that moment.

Of course, the lady didn't spell it out, but that is the direct implication.

@price-singspuccini6124 Right well most rapists are nice to their victims to gain their trust before they destroy them. What he did to her was not nice at all.

I think you should shun evil people, but she wasn't evil. That is the irony. The people around her we evil and not only that but hypocrites. The lady put her hand on that casket and called her a sinner for being used by all of them.

Why do you suppose you are being shunned? Do they give any indication? Sometimes they say, you are better off without evil people anyway. At least you don't pick up their bad ways.
1
Should you ever forgive people after they have unjustly shunned you or get to the point that you trust them? You can never look at them the same way again. Yet I see people shunned all the time, and if you stand with them you are shunned instead. It is probably worse now or more of the same at least. She had no choice but to live that horrible life there. Maybe her reward is in heaven for keeping a loving heart.
