I think Americans are very shallow, and then these foreigners feel entitled to abuse that. If someone loves you out of nowhere and keeps saying all these lovey things, that is red flag number one. If they love you so much, they should be at least talking to you on the phone or meeting with you in person. If they refuse to face time or talk on the phone, run their IP address and see if it matches where they are claiming to be from. If not, ask them why not. That might scare them off right there. Don't offer to give money to anyone you don't know in person.
It is embarrassing to have this done to you like you really are stupid. I think dating apps are very dangerous and not worth the risk. If you are unable to meet people in your personal life, try to figure out why. Maybe there are things you can change about yourself, or you can look for different people.
If you are very kindhearted and want to believe everyone and help everyone, just stay off these apps. You are very easy prey. If someone has any kind of problems they are sharing right off the bat, offer advice, not money. Don't even think of sending any money at all.
