  2. Tenants can't go to work, landlords can't get rents, but banks can still collect mortgages, governments can still collect taxes, and utility companies still get paid. What is wrong with this picture. How come the government doesn't halt taxes and payments to banks? You can't cut off one side of the economy for the sole benefit of the other. The whole system is going to collapse. Where can these people go? She will eventually get thrown out of her sister's house for overcrowding laws. You should always pay your rent first though. Once you fall behind, you almost never make it up. Then her second mistake was missing the court hearing. That is why the eviction took her by surprise. A lot of people are coasting now because of the CDC rule stopping evictions. What will happen at the end of the year though when landlords can start removing them all? They need their money or they will be out on the street also.
