I think the little boy was so cute and innocent that it triggered someone with pure evil in their heart to come and hurt him. Sometimes that is all it takes. It is just spite and jealousy. Maybe the classmate was jealous that this little boy was so loved even though he wasn't really part of the family by blood. He wanted to destroy love for other people. There are people like that who are just spiteful and perhaps demonic.
