Too bad her employer who she personally assists can't give her lodging. Supply and demand in a free market is predatory without checks and balances. if landlords hoard all the homes, where are people to live? They have responsibilities as landlords to provide housing not just sit on wealth as investments. This is corrupt capitalism coming to a head. How can people keep working and functioning in a society without housing and with so much discrimination against the homeless? When they lose their home, they not only lose their dwelling but their status as human beings to many. They are accused of drug addiction, mental illness, laziness, etc. when this is not the case. After a while the desperation will tear anyone apart and make them give up, lose their mind or turn to drugs.

The apartments get upgraded and then the landlords charge luxury rents. If you can find a basic, modest, older apartment, that is your only hope, but those are very rare. Most don't care to cater to the poor.

If your personal assitant lived with you, wouldn't that be even more helpful?

I don't know why landlords only rent through real estate agents now or worse yet, affordable housing lotteries where wait lists are thousands long. You get done paying for these stupid background checks and fees, and then for no reason they still won't rent to you.

This is true. Amoral capitalism is as bad as slavery. It is fascism or corporate control of society. Where will these homeless people wind up, dead? So many are just not visible anymore. They have gone missing except in certain areas that allow it like CA or Seattle, etc. The ones I do see look terrified at being outed. When they go to get help somewhere, they seem so degraded, and I can see how they are mistreated and toyed with mentally and emotionally. When I think of homeless people that I knew, if they didn't wind up in apartments, they died after a while. Even some of those in apartments died I guess from years of accumulated stress. When you aren't a refugee from war but from a country that has no place for you, that feels even worse like it is all intentional with no hope for improvement.
