It is probably intentional propaganda. I wish a director with a more honest and sincere vision would try to tell this story. I think the story of Napoleon is one of the most maligned, smeared and lied about. He is some kind of critical figure in history that those in power don't want you to understand. He had loyalists in the USA at the time. Rodin even made a statue of him that is still hidden in a chapel in Milford, PA though it was made for the square. They were so scared to put it there, they hid it on their estate instead. It is on the Gifford Pinchot estate. The vibe of the movie is all wrong. It looks like Gladiator all over again which was long and boring and pointless also. I think Napoleon was a humble, nerdy kind of guy, not some arrogant brash brute like they are making him look. The fiery sex is gratuitous also. Maybe that Josephine was some kind of narcissistic controller of his mind. When he finally failed at Waterloo, it sounds like the Russo/Austrian forces maybe did him in by combining with the British on another front. Russia did finally get him back for defeating them. It sounds like WW II all over again.
