I remember when a house sold for $75,000 that now sells for $450,00. I remember when rent was $375 a month and now is more like $1200 for a one bedroom apartment. I see some people so wealthy in ways that were never common before. The exploitation is getting out of control. I remember when a security guard, mechanic, HVAC tech, could live alongside in the same neighborhood as a school principal, insurance salesman, policeman, and schoolteacher. There were just more affordable houses and less classism.
How come there are so many restaurants and shopping malls like everywhere now? It is like all some people do is spend money and indulge themselves. Meanwhile, those who don't have an established income, it is like they have fallen and can't get up. The low income housing gets gentrified into more malls, stores and restaurants for the wealthy, more luxury housing with a few token affordable units thrown in.
People are being priced out of their place in society. All from greed. All from some people needing to have more than the next person no matter how unfair it is.

A lot of people are overpaid for doing next to nothing at the management level. If someone is working for a boss, they are integral to that company's success. They should share in the profits instead of being treated like a wage slave. The boss gets to set the rules, but he shouldn't take advantage of the workers. These billion dollar corporations such as Walmart are taking advantage of the system. They pay minimum wage, expect maximum effort, and then expect the taxpayers to foot the bill for SNAP which you can't even get indefinitely if you are not disabled, plus rental assistance which is very hard to come by with long waiting lists, Medicaid which is full of fraud, etc.
That is not a good system. A wage of $15 per hour is about the minimum you need to survive in this country. It is the minimum you need to pay for college without taking out huge loans and then begging the government to forgive them. It is the minimum you need to save for a down payment on a house or car. If teens want jobs, they can do odd jobs for neighbors. I have tons of neighbors begging for people to shovel them out because the landscape companies are too busy. This country with its trickle down economic theory has been taking advantage of the poor for too long.
You can call it socialism or whatever you want. I think it is justice. More wages means more taxes paid, less reliance on government assistance, and more independence and self respect among the workers. I think you are going to try harder to do a good job when you know you are being compensated at a level that is making a difference in your life and isn't just a tip for being a good kid staying busy at a job.

Does anyone honestly think that those masks are sterilized? They are made in some overseas sweat shop and then thrown in a box. There is nothing sterile about them. Usually when I was handed one, the person did it with their bare hands. One time I said, "I don't know what could be on that mask, I don't want to put it over my face," and the lady said, "It is right from the box." It could be dirty in the box though. You can't hide from germs. The best thing to do is breathe the air with everyone's germs and antibodies mixed in, and then take care of any symptoms. This is how to get the herd immunity.
I think if stores want business, better yet, don't harass the customers. If they show up mask-less, just ignore it. Word of that will get around, and loads of people will be trying to hang around there and do business there. If someone is rude yelling at me accusatorily, "Where is your mask. Do you have a mask?" with a tone like a meteor is crashing, I turn and leave and don't go back.
