  1. I remember when a house sold for $75,000 that now sells for $450,00. I remember when rent was $375 a month and now is more like $1200 for a one bedroom apartment. I see some people so wealthy in ways that were never common before. The exploitation is getting out of control. I remember when a security guard, mechanic, HVAC tech, could live alongside in the same neighborhood as a school principal, insurance salesman, policeman, and schoolteacher. There were just more affordable houses and less classism. How come there are so many restaurants and shopping malls like everywhere now? It is like all some people do is spend money and indulge themselves. Meanwhile, those who don't have an established income, it is like they have fallen and can't get up. The low income housing gets gentrified into more malls, stores and restaurants for the wealthy, more luxury housing with a few token affordable units thrown in. People are being priced out of their place in society. All from greed. All from some people needing to have more than the next person no matter how unfair it is.

  2. I kind of get scared when I don't see any homeless. There are wealthy Republican influenced places that you don't see anyone like that any more. It isn't because they were helped. They were disappeared. If you so much as look shabby as to be taken as a homeless person, you get abused and thrown out of restaurants and denied decent service. Do you think some places just don't have any homeless people? I think some places people know that they had better hide or die.

  4. There was a small city near me that was known as the homeless capital of America. There would be people hanging out in the town center all day and sleeping in the surrounding woods. Now these people, I guess known as street people, they are just gone. The soup kitchens are there, the shelters are there, but only yuppies and wealthy old people are in the park and walking around. It is creepy. Where did they suddenly vanish to and why? One night I was driving around before dawn, and I saw a man with a backpack walking through a park on the outskirts. When he saw my car, he got nervous and started walking fast like he was being HUNTED. This is when it was below freezing out like in the single digits. This is why they are in CA. It is warmer and maybe they aren't being removed to who knows where.

  7. There are social programs all over the country. Texas has SNAP, rental vouchers, social security. How can you blame it on social programs? People go to California for the dream of the sunny beach life and cool atmosphere. They want to make it big in the entertainment industry. Texas has its own immigration problems with the border. I kind of think these people on the streets are the ones NOT receiving the aid. The more cutthroat a society is, the more people drop out and fail at making it there. People in the USA capitalize on the pain and suffering of others. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. India has a caste system where they think some people are born into a lower station in life because they have bad karma and deserve it. The USA has an elitist system where they think some people who have money are just superior and the poor and homeless are lazy and worthless. It is these mentalities that cause homelessness. It is a lack of compassion for others. A lot of these people are just lonely and confused. They don't have a place to fit in.

  8. If you have a very low incidence of drugs or alcohol and help these people survive for up to five years, maybe that is your success. Maybe they would have been dead or become addicts except for your help and influence. Maybe there are things you could learn from the homeless yourself. Looking at them as entitled and lazy is judging. Maybe they look like they could work but really can't.

  10. Honestly, I have never seen more entitled people who think their poop has no smell than the neo- Republicans. They take all they can get without looking out for anyone else, and then blame the people they abused calling them losers and bums and lazy. Wrong. This country is going headlong into insanity. Blaming these victims or the programs to help them is selfish. What are they supposed to do in this system to help themselves? A lot of them aren't the cutthroat type people who fit in. They are the ones who care about others, but in this Rethuglican capitalist system, you have to care about money first. You get around these neoconservative people and it is like you don't exist unless you have something to offer them personally. This is how people get used, exploited and abused.

  12. Not everyone can get what is known as a good job. Then the social programs are hard to get. Then if you do manage to get the benefits, people resent you and abuse you for it like you are not entitled to it. People are too scared and ashamed to apply for benefits, then are abused when they apply, then abused when they get them. They would maybe rather fend for themselves on the streets. It is a society of judgment and evil. This is why people are on the sidewalk like so much litter cast aside. This is why people who have more instead of asking how can they help just ask how can they get rid of them. Then to make it worse, they blame the people for their situation and blame the people who help them. Leaving a helpless abandoned person alone to make it in life, that isn't a solution. Then to just be abusive on top of that, blaming them and judging them, it is evil. The homeless are turning into the new scapegoats of a deranged society. Maybe they are there to teach people humility. Maybe some people resent the very thought of being humble so much that they want to attack the source. These people are being trampled under foot literally.

  15. Not only that, how about outrageous property taxes and utility charges that landlords have to pay? Local governments are getting tons of money, but where is the return on investment?
