The mayor and town officials are at fault. All these people shouldn't be homeless over needed repairs. They shouldn't have condemned the building. They should have only condemned the unlivable units and then found temporary housing for them until the work was finished under threat of jail if the owner doesn't do it in like two weeks. They don't know how to run the city. They just blame the owners who only just bought the property a couple of years ago. These repairs were needed for a LONG TIME.

Having a slice of pizza out at a restaurant is cheaper than having a full Thanksgiving dinner. That is an innovative idea, just like American pizza.

If they aren't repaired soon? They had multiple violations for years. The emergency system should take over now. What if a fire gets started by an open oven? If you aren't safe and comfortable in your home, it compounds your other problems. You don't have peace of mind to fix anything else when you are worried about survival. It is like being homeless. It could be that the landlord wants to drive out the few remaining low income tenants so that he can renovate and charge massively high rents. Harlem is now a high rent area. The Clintons lived there. If they want to solve the homelessness crisis in NY, stop letting landlords get away with this. I think the city is in on it though or they would fix the heat right away.

Why aren't they regular people? The poor and elderly and disabled also need places to live.

They had these in the Port Authority decades ago. They were so useless and uncomfortable that they brought back metal chairs with armrests in between each seat. They are made of metal and have holes punched in them. They aren't comfortable, but at least you are sitting. Leaning against a little flap of plastic isn't useful if you are exhausted after walking around all day. They seemingly want to make sure that the homeless have no way of resting. Better on a nice bench or chair than on the floor where you could trip over them.

The next superintendent will be just as indifferent. That is the society we live in. Why not charge the adults present with neglect and failure to act? She was beaten like that because those girls felt it was safe to do that there and even post and brag about it.

Call in Heshy Tischler for city council in Brooklyn. He fights for the people. Vote for Heshy and call him with problems. He not only helps the Jewish community but all NYers. We don't need this fascism here. Save the schools and the children's educations.

The building needs to pay everyone's expenses to move out, and they need to write this whole project off as a loss. It never should have been built there. A road is one thing, a single family home is one thing. This is so much more weight and pressure on the destabilized ground that it it is the straw breaking the camel's back. They are going to get sued and maybe go to prison if this building collapses and there are dead bodies because they just ignored the situation.

I feel like they could put this out but they are going to let as much burn as possible.

Cyclone West looks like a cyclone hit it. That used to be a very nice building. It is right downtown by the shops. If the poor get in, the landlords just start ignoring all the repairs. For $1500 a month for a one-bedroom, that might be the cheapest they can find. They could probably barely afford that. All the state wants to do is create more homeless people. They ran them all out and then blame the landlord. He didn't swoop in and do this; it has been going on for years under their auspices. They allowed it, that crooked mayor and city. Did anyone there call the board of health? Did they do anything? Did code enforcement or zoning do anything? Everyone looks the other way until it is time to run people out of their homes. Even if they get security from DCA, they probably can't use it anywhere. They get one week in a school gym, then what? DCA is suppoed to inspect all section 8 rentals yearly. They didn't complain about this dump either.

No, it is in the Rockaway River floodplain. It is right across the street from the ShopRite complex that has marshland behind it with reeds and cattails.
2
They get held responsible for the year's rent on a broken lease, although in this case, they can argue that the building was uninhabitable.
2
They need to put out this fire. These animals will have no habitat to return to. How is it that it keeps going and going? The whole northern half of NJ now has bad air. Can everyone get outside with hoses and start spraying? Why is there such a lax response from the government? This is a highly populated area that surrounds these woods. A lot of people's homes and businesses are in danger.

Parents can't control teenagers. This is probably another case of a teen was targeted, thought he was cool with the federal agents after meeting with them, then suddenly gets framed for a mass shooting carried out by professional military snipers. That parents are being charged for these things on top of students is really unfair and unconstitutional. Where is the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness if you can be framed just for being related to someone who you can't fully control?
2
That might wind up a thing. A portable folding stool in a bag with a shoulder strap.
2
They ordered the management company to maintain the building in pristine condition and paid them hundreds of thousands of dollars but never went to check up on them? What kind of company does that? They are LYING. The city even sent them notice a year ago that the building was going to be condemned for lack of maintenance. They weren't taken by surprise; they knew all along. They probably planned this out to get rid of low-income tenants before renovating and then charging three times the rent.

I heard he was on the ground screaming for his mother outside her house while they beat him to death. This was just the first beating that he escaped maybe. Cops have steel toe shoes or heavy shoes that don’t take many kicks to kill someone.

I heard 75,000 Chinese nationals are washing ashore in Miami and coming in with the Hispanics on the borders. Secret army invasion????

@offdutytootieBooBoo Mange??? Like when an animal has parasites that make its hair fall out???
1
One month free is a joke if you can't keep up the rent in general. People will move in, take advantage of the break, and then wait to be evicted or just leave. Lower the rent to where people can keep up, and you will have stable, long term rentals.

Can we go invade their mud huts and villas in South America, like a vacation swap? NO? THEN STAY OUT!!!!!

The illegals get a year of free rent in a fancy hotel with food and cell phones and medical and whatever else they need while these Americans are being put out on the streets. Are they looking for some sort of tipping point? Guns are kind of illegal in NYC, yet there are plenty of illegal ones around. What if these people armed themselves and refused to be put out? Anyway, they look very mild mannered and law abiding, but the projects allegedly have a lot of rough tough people in them. We need to see what the net profit of these landlords is before putting out the residents. They have a public trust by housing citizens. They are going to put out that little boy and these people working so hard to have a living? How is that right? I don't think expenses are so high that it warrants creating even more of a homelessness crisis. Where is Eric Adams and his moral obligation to the people of NYC instead of these illegals bussed in from Texas? Tell them to take a hike back and house the Americans first.

Whatever his name was, at least he gave people an affordable place to live. He was not held responsible for upkeep. That is in the black city personnel.
1
Wow, do they want to tear down all of these historic buildings? That isn't gentrification, that is commercialization and erasing history and culture.

Americans are being displaced by foreign invaders. Even the Hispanic daughter of immigrants would rather keep her children home than trust these hordes. Eric Adams looks like he came off the same mothership as Lori Lightfoot in Chicago. Are these people carrying out an alien agenda to destroy the USA? How is this making any sense? They tried to run the last rooming house out of a town for being next to a school. The residents can't even enjoy their porch or yard without being accused of bothering the neighbors. Williamsburg is a yuppie expensive area now, not a lot of poor left unless they are in old rent control units. It is also near the Orthodox Jewish area. They are sticking these invaders in all over at the expense of citizens. Meanwhile WHERE DO THE AMERICAN HOMELESS HAVE A SAFE DECENT SHELTER???

In NW NJ, there are ponds that have completely disappeared as well as creek beds that have all but dried up. There are a lot of dry leaves on the ground since it is the end of fall. A lot of Northwest NJ is wooded. If they can't get things under control in West Milford, Pompton Lakes and Ridgewood, it can spread west and north and effect a lot more areas. At least get ready with hoses hooked up to outdoor faucets and fire blankets to beat out sparks. If the whole place ignites, there might not be a way to drive out.

I mean for calling names online. Doesn't everyone do that to each other? How is the school in charge of what children do online? I think the girl wasn't supported enough emotionally at home, and that is how this happened. How could she even manage to kill herself or think such dark thoughts? It is a very suspicious story. Children are open and say anything that comes to mind. They can be competitive and self-centered. The adults have to step in and clarify the situation not leave it as four girls online against one. Why would the parents even think to sue the school? What was their role in raising such an insecure child? Why weren't they supervising her? I still don't see how she could do this. She can't get a gun or drugs, what did she use? Now they have stricter anti-bullying laws like what does that mean? You can't criticize or disagree with anyone in case they feel insecure? Those girls who called her names online, I am pretty sure they didn't mean for it to go this far. Imagine putting the blame for a little girl's death on them to haunt them the rest of their lives over making rude comments. I think the adults are to blame for neglect, not the children. Even so, how in the world would she have accomplished this?
1
@jakester455 Pure evil? You are talking about 12 year old girls talking smack. Calling someone fat makes them pure evil? People need to get a grip. Stop blaming children for the inadequate nurturing of adults.
1
@lifewuzonceezr Yeah, being a parent isn't being a puppet master.

Some people these days are using electric vests, socks and blankets to stay warm. That uses less electricity, but the EMF fields are probably not healthy.
1
They allow the problem and then ship it to everyone else. These people can't handle the cold. Keep them down there on a prairie or something. Send them home, keep them out.
1
How would renter's insurance help in this situation?
1
That is kind of irresistible to two teenage boys to have a devil's tunnel passage to explore. Why didn't they wade or swim out? Was there some kind of flash flood? How were they clinging to the wall? Was there a current? This sounds like a super wacky story, like the devil really did mess with their heads in the tunnel. Did the tunnel say keep out? Maybe it seemed like a good place to hike.
1
So what? Where are they supposed to live, a tent on a sidewalk?
1
Recall the election and put in Curtis Sliwa before it is too late and there is no redeeming NYC.

The management probably purposely has low lives working there to intimidate people they don't like. Honest, hard working, loyal employees don't count. They want people who will do their dirty work. It sounds like the doorman was trying to make the woman feel uncomfortable so that she would move out. They probably really don't want the low income people in there if they are trying to be luxury. Do the low income units revert to normal rate apartments once the first low income person leaves? I think she will win her case. They can't retaliate over a complaint or litany of complaints as they call it. She just has to stick with it and maybe file a housing discrimination complaint. She will never find another place she can afford. Everything is luxury now.
1
Those are beautiful old historical buildings that used to be very nice and clean and livable in the seventies. They have been allowed to fall into RUIN.
1
@CannalystCreations Why does that keep happening. All of these tacky luxury apartments that all look the same and that only a few people in a housing lottery can get into for fair market rent.
1
It should be posted on the front door like when someone is evicted!!
1
Adams looks like an alien, so I guess he identifies with these illegal aliens.
1
Three thousand a month to live in a slum, and they want to stay because there is nowhere to move to. People are stuck in place now for many reasons. If they lose their place, they are on the streets. Landlords get money from 30% of the tenants. What about their repairs? I think at some point tenants give up. You can take off that shower head at least and clean it. If you keep the buildings nice, it inspires the tenants to do the same.
