I thought everyone was getting maximum SNAP during the pandemic. Is that only in some states? You can feed an adult and five kids on $20. There are lots of videos on it. As an example, a five pound sack of potatoes, a sack of rice, sack of beans, bag of carrots, sack of apples and maybe a head of lettuce and bottle of oil comes out to around $20. They aren't spending money on the right food. The lady cooking for herself with her daughter had the right idea and they looked like a normal weight. You can eat good if you know how to shop, cook and budget. Some of this starvation is really ignorance.
SNAP stands for supplemental nutrition assistance project. It isn't all the food you get for the month. They assume that you will spend some of your own money on food, and this is to supplement what you might be missing due to low income. The amount you get goes down every year as your income increases. Some people get as low as $16 a month whereas the maximum is like almost $200. People don't really understand SNAP. It does help a lot, but there is more to the problem than just the money. People need to spend it wisely and not waste food, use leftovers, keep it from going bad, etc.
