  1. She was too scared to face the children who don't trust her. They didn't want to be snowed by some hypocrite. If she had something worthwhile to say, I guess she would have stayed and said it. What was she going to do, stand there and give them a pep talk? Maybe their lives are so hard and twisted by the rich exploiting the poor, all they can see are the drugs the CIA imports and sells to them.
