Has this happened to you? I don't know the context of the man chasing someone with a knife, but it is possible that happens now and then when you are outside like a stray dog being abused every day. That does make dogs and people turn feral. We have to learn to live together. Telling people, you can't be here, go there, and leaving them with no options is leading to conflict. We don't need to encourage camping outside, but we don't need to run these people around like refugees from a war zone. They feel society is at war with them, and that can make them respond violently and defensively. Mailmen carry dog treats for wild dogs. Maybe carry some convenience store gift cards if you want to go on the turf of these people.
