Why is it so hard for him? All he has to do is take care of the house and cow. Is it hard to clean three soup bowls, a pot and some spoons after making soup? Maybe the girls could do chores and do the cleaning if he is too sore. Does he have a big garden? The more food he can grow and preserve the better. He is maybe depressed out there alone.
